Dr. Amy Jo Overlin served as the Medical Director for the 10th
Anniversary of Pat’s Run. She headed a medical team of approximately 60
individuals comprised of local sports medicine physicians, certified athletic
trainers, physical therapists, nurses, and medical students.
The Pat’s
Run medical team also coordinated with emergency medical personal from both
Tempe Fire and Southwest Ambulance to care for the 28,000 plus participants.
Dr. Overlin was joined by two other TOCA medical providers, Dr. Kostas
Economopoulos and Melinda Mabee, PA-C. Dr. Overlin has been a medical
provider for Pat’s Run for the last 8 years and this is her third year as the
medical director. When Dr. Overlin was asked why she continues to be part
of Pat’s Run year after year she had this to say, “It is always a true honor
and privilege to be a part of the Pat Tillman Run. The event in and of
itself raises money to provide leadership scholarships to both military
personal and their families as well as current ASU students. Yet, this
event represents so much more than a race to raise money for
scholarships. It seeps with patriotism, hope and a feeling of
community. Every year I watch the wave of runners and walkers pass along
the course I can’t help but be proud of the legacy that has become Pat Tillman
and the countless lives he has inspired.“
