Dr Bailie attends rodeos in the Southwest to care for the PRCA (PRORODEO.com) athletes

Dr David Bailie serves as a volunteer Team Physician for the Justin Sports Medicine Team, the official medical team for the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association). Having volunteered his services for nearly 20 years, he is one of only a few Orthopedic Surgeons in the US designated an official Team Physician (Justinsportsmedicine.com).
Dr Bailie attends rodeos in the Southwest to care for the PRCA (PRORODEO.com) athletes at the arena and provide overall Orthopedic care, including surgical care if needed, to help these tough athletes minimize downtime. Although PRCA are some of the most dangerous athletic events of any professional sport, the athletes do not get paid if they do not compete. They need to earn as many points during the season as possible, in hopes of qualifying for the NFR (National Finals Rodeo) in Las Vegas, where millions of dollars are at stake. They rely on the Justin Sports Medicine Team (Sponsored by Justin Boots, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway) to help them throughout the season. Dr Bailie understands that the unique injuries seen in PRCA and does everything he can to make sure these athletes are ready for their next ride!
Be sure to catch some of the exciting rodeo action televised on CBS Sports Network!

Gea Johnson, a patient of Dr. David Bailie, is bound for the Masters World Championships in Manchester!

Hello Dr. Bailie (The Rock Star Doctor),

Gea Johnson here! I realize you are very busy, but I am very excited to share with you what I
have been doing! A few years ago, I started track cycling even though Arizona doesn't have a
velodrome! I have had several successes…I even smashed a track record held by a woman, who
is bound for the 2016 Olympic Games and who is nearly half my age! Below, you will find my
“GoFundMe” link that also includes a very recent article detailing some of these successes.

For this next coming month, I will be competing “again” at the Masters World Championships in
Manchester, England. Unfortunately, this is very expensive. Dr Emerson and Dr. Martin have
both donated on and off of my “GoFundMe” site. I knew you would be interested too once you
heard of my successes; especially, since I am doing all of this at age 47 and with your shoulder
replacement! I would greatly appreciate any help you can provide.

I would also appreciate your help getting in touch with your contact at Biomet Orthopedics. I
have a partnership/sponsorship proposal to present to them. I would love to tell them the story
about my shoulder and how I am succeeding at such a “high” athletic level despite my so-called
shoulder “limitation.” I, regrettably, need serious funding to be able to train full-time near a
velodrome (located in Los Angeles) and to compete at UCI events to vie for a spot on the 2016
Olympic Team.

Sincerely,

Gea Johnson

P.S. I can still do ALOT of pull-ups!

The new Biomet NANO stemless total shoulder, co-designed by Dr. Bailie

The new Biomet NANO stemless total shoulder, co-designed by Dr. Bailie, has been off to a fast start in Europe. Hundreds have been used for both primary and reverse should replacement with many European surgeon users raving about the simplicity and the ability to customize the device intra-operatively. In addition, the IRB/FDA approved clinical trial has started in the US at 12 centers, of which Dr. Bailie is one (the only center in the Western half of the US). He has enrolled and completed surgeries on qualified patients and will continue to enroll patients who qualify until he reaches the maximum allowed by the FDA. Great job Dr. Bailie!

Dr. David Bailie: resurfacing arthroplasty of the shoulder (specialized partial replacement)

Dr. Bailie has been doing resurfacing arthroplasty of the shoulder (specialized partial replacement) since the FDA approved their use in 2001. In fact, he was instrumental in bringing the technology to the US Orthopedic market with Biomet. This procedure is best for younger, active patients who are in need of pain relief from arthritis of the shoulder but too young to consider a full replacement.

He has performed this surgery on hundreds of patients with excellent mid-term and long term results. This includes active Olympic athletes, a Hall of Fame Major League Baseball player, many physicians/triathletes and "weekend warriors" who desire to maintain a very active lifestyle.

Below is a link to the video:

http://ortho.broadcastmed.com/4532/videos/bone-conserving-humeral-resurfacing

The video is a live surgery he performed as a webcast- broadcast live worldwide with an onsite moderator who assisted Dr Bailie in question/answers during the surgery. Viewers could send in questions live while watching the surgery and Dr. Bailie would demonstrate aspects of the procedure to help educate the viewers.

In addition, his work was published in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, the most prestigious journal in Orthopedics Worldwide. He was asked to also write a book chapter in the prestigious text, THE SHOULDER (Ed Craig, editor) on this topic, which is shown below, and describes the procedure and his results. Long term data have shown that this procedure performs well over 10 years.

For more information, you may visit his website at www.SportsMedDoc.com where you can reach him via email.

TOCA is pleased to announce that David S Bailie MD has been selected as a principal investigator of a new stemless total shoulder replacement device.

TOCA is pleased to announce that David S Bailie MD has been selected as a principal investigator of a new stemless total shoulder replacement device. This is a randomized study being conducted at 12 FDA approved medical facilities in the US. Dr. Bailie is the only orthopedic surgeon approved to use this device in the western US (west of  Memphis, TN).

This FDA approved study is being sponsored by Biomet Orthopedics ( a worldwide manufacturer/distributor of Orthopedic devices, www.Biomet.com).

Dr. Bailie has been selected by the FDA and the Western Institutional Review Board to participate and enroll qualified patients. The device has already been released and is currently being used in several European countries and the UK. Because the device is uniquely different than any current shoulder replacement on the market, in the US it requires a specifically designed FDA approved study, to be conducted by select surgeons, prior to general release to the remainder of the medical community. Until the study is complete (approximately 5-7 years), it will only be available as part of this study. Dr. Bailie is very excited to have been asked to participate in this "cutting-edge" research and be able to offer his patients a unique opportunity to participate. Participating orthopedic surgeons is by invitation only.

As criteria for patients to be included in this study is very specific and narrow, only those potential patients who are seen and examined personally by Dr. Bailie can be considered. This study will be performed under strict FDA and IRB monitoring until it is completed.
